Partial Mechanical Completion Certificate Issued by Aramco for Boiler Package of QATIF Water Separation Project

On March 19, the QATIF Water Separation Project (EPC) achieved Partial Mechanical Completion Certificate (PMCC) issued by client Saudi Aramco, bringing 5 vendor packages to mechanical completion, consisting of the Pre-Treater, Crude Charge Pump, Trim Heater, Wet/Dry Crude Exchanger and the Auxiliary Steam Boiler.

In retrospect, the construction and pre-commissioning of the boiler package was a tough nut to crack across the entire project. Designed by Macchi, the boiler package spans multiple skids and sub-vendors, presenting huge challenge on coordination efforts. Any hiccup during the pre-commissioning may cause the whole thing to go haywire and compromise the project progress. The project team tackled the challenge head-on. A dedicated coordination group was set up to figure out solutions through in-person discussions and video calls. Punch list items were broken down by skid and discipline, and deadlines for close-out were defined for follow-up actions. All this hard work paid off the moment when the PMCC was issued upon satisfactory completion of the construction and pre-commissioning activities of the boiler package.

Moving forward, the project team will double down on the upcoming commissioning activities to secure stable and reliable operation of the equipment, and eventually achieve overall completion of the project.
