On May 22, the load test of the electrical overhead traveling (EOT) crane of the steam turbine generator (STG) building for BI-163 project was successfully completed by EP2 team of Sinopec Nanjing Engineering Middle East Co., Ltd. (SNEMEC), paving the way for erection of pipes in Saudi Aramco's Ras Tanura Refinery.

The purpose of the load test for the EOT crane is to verify its performance and reliability under the rated and limit loads, respectively. The test simulated the hoisting and moving of various weights of goods. Data gathered by the involved parties from the 3-hour-long test demonstrated the crane’s performance including steady moving and precise hoisting and lowering of the test loads, culminating in the Owner’s greenlight for the operation of the crane, laying the groundwork for mechanical and piping erection works in the STG building.

The successful load test demonstrates the expertise of SNEMEC and serves as a stepping stone for more projects in the Ras Tanura market.
