He is a graduate from India. At Amiral project, he is the new kid on the block. His name is Babloo Kumar, one of the first international graduate intakes from India.

At a time when much preparing process need to be done as the temporary facility is to be built, Kumar is found shuttling between the fabrication shop and the jobsite, often scratching his head over client Aramco’s specs, that’s when experienced and trusted folks step in, one of them is Mr. LU Hongxing, the Site Manager. “Come on, kid, get in your PPE, and let’s go take a look at what is going on at the jobsite,” LU was adamant. That kicked off a five-month-long boot-camp onboarding journey for Kumar to gain exposure to the broad work undertaken by SNEI at this giant Amiral project, not only on paper, as he was struggling to take in, but some hands-on, boots-on-the-ground experiences to straighten things out in the real world. “Mr. LU and my mentor Mr. MA demonstrated their expertise and accompanied me through the site walk-throughs so that I am able to fit in and do my part,” Kunar is thrilled by the onboarding experience at SNEI.

Mr. MA Hongrui, head of Construction Department at Amiral project, took Kumar under his wing as a mentor. “It’s a wonderful journey walking Kumar, my very first international mentee, through this formative period in his career. I’m proud of him, and I’m more than willing to transfer the knowledge I garnered through the years. What we are looking here is a pipeline of multinational project management experts.”

Kumar’s onboarding journey at SNEI is a testament of Sinopec’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive culture in cultivating and empowering its pool of high-caliber international talents. For MA, this intercultural mentoring experience brought together the knowledge and expertise of a veteran Chinese employee and the aspiration of an international graduate.  It is part of a well-crafted onboarding program by SNEI to propel its local sustained growth aligning the Belt and Road Initiative with Saudi Vision 2030.
