SNEMEC’s EP2 Team Wraps up First Shutdown Tie-in Activities for SRU Project

Recently, the No.61 flare line tie-in spools of SRU project were successfully reinstalled by EP2 team of Sinopec Nanjing Engineering Middle East Co., Ltd., marking the wrap-up of the first shutdown tie-in erection work of the project.

On February 4, Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura Refinery commenced turnaround activities, and EP2 team was tasked to complete the first tie-in activities as per project schedule. SRU project involves a large number of tie-ins spanning three Sulfur Recovery Units (SRUs) and OBSL piperacks. This entails coordinating with 6 plants, compounded by a tight schedule and a heavy workload.

Given these challenges, the project team conducted multiple site surveys, and developed a meticulous construction execution plan. Leveraging the available resources, the construction team was put on day and night work shifts to maximize productivity. The project team managed the project safety and quality rigorously, and proactively sought after the required sign-offs to facilitate seamless execution of work sequences. The successful completion of the first tie-in activities demonstrates the project team’s execution capabilities in collaboration with all involved parties.
