Transporting and Setting Completed for The Tallest and Heaviest Equipment (Stabilizer) in Aramco’s Marjan Project

On December 10, Marjan project’s stabilizer, weighing 236 tonnes, and measuring 35 meters in height and 5.5 meters in diameter, was lifted and set in position, paving the way for subsequent pipe erection.

The stabilizer is the tallest and heaviest equipment in Marjan project. This is compounded by the challenges of complex terrain feature and confined work space. To overcome the obstacles, the team used a 600-tonne crawler crane and a 400-tonne tailing crane. This flexible approach facilitated the successful execution of the lifting and setting operations safely, on time, and with perfect manoeuvrability.

This achievement was highly recognized by the Owner Aramco and the EPC Contractor Hyundai E&C, thanks to meticulous planning made by the project team in conjunction with the Owner and EPC Contractor. Heavy haul and access routes, equipment foundation bolt pitch and equipment baseplate bolt hole pitch were carefully checked and verified to enable transporting and setting of the equipment in position.
