Upgrade Crude Oil Delivery System East-West Pipeline Project of SAUDI ARAMCO (hereinafter as EWPL Project), which is located in the desert hinterland, has a long front line, high vehicles usage, and long driving time. With complex and changeable road conditions, the traffic risk management for the project is considerably difficult. In order to test the quick response, emergency disposal and cooperative engagement capabilities of multiple departments, EWPL project recently carried out the field roadside rescue drill.

The drill simulated the road scenario of weak signal that mobile phone cannot be connected normally. The project traffic assistant noticed the vehicle abnormity by AVL Vehicle Monitoring System and immediately started Emergency Response Program to carry out emergency disposal.

The drill scenario was set up according to requirements in practice. By simulating the whole process of emergency disposal of road transport emergencies, the drill tested not only the integrity, scientificity and operability of the emergency rescue plan, but also the scientific rationality of the post-accident emergency rescue procedure and reporting procedure.
