On  May 29, the 1.5MMTPA PTA Plant of Honggang Petrochemical in Lianyungang,  undertaken by SNEI, achieved first-time-right commissioning and produced on-spec  product. From start of commissioning to production of on-spec product, the plant  operation is stable and reliable, which reflects SNEI’s state-of-the-art  construction techniques and excellent service quality.

SNEI  undertakes two major works, civil and installation, for the 1.5 MMTPA PTA  project of Honggang Petrochemical. The project commenced on March 20, 2013, with  a very aggressive schedule. Despite such great difficulties, the PMT has made  planning well in advance to tackle the schedule challenge by promoting the idea  to “improve the conditions from outside and create the conditions from inside”,  and proactive communication and coordination were maintained with Owner in order  to improve the conditions. Arrangements were made such that prefabrication of  process piping and erection of structural steel and equipment commenced  basically at the same time. Time was extended for prefabrication of pipes, so as  to avoid concentration of labor which may result in lack of labor on site for a  short term. In the meantime, based on actual construction need, full-swing  programs were initiate, including the “100-day” full-swing program for civil  works, and the full-spring program for “Q4 and achievement of intermediate  handover date on Dec. 29” for installation works. By implementing the management  concept of “getting progress along critical path, and getting resources from  non-critical path”, the PMT dynamically adjusted the plan to focus on key and  difficult activities. By the end of 2013, main construction work for project was  completed, and on Mar. 20, 2014, intermediate handover was achieved for the  plant.

In  a next move, the PMT will make all-out efforts to complete the last important  piece of work for the project, close-out activities for pipe insulation, and  assist Owner to maintain stable and safe operation of the  plant.
