Recently, the 1 million t/a ethylene project of Sinopec Zhenhai Refining &  Chemical Company (ZRCC), built by SNEI’s Storage Tank Engineering Branch  Company, is awarded 2011-2012 gold medal of national high-quality project, the  highest award in the construction sector. The full-pressure chemical storage  tank farm of the 1 million t/a ethylene project of ZRCC, for which SNEI’s  Storage Tank Engineering Branch Company undertook the construction work, is the  only U&O work for which the application was submitted for the plant, which  has made great contribution to the award winning by the project.

         The full-pressure chemical storage tank farm of the 1 million t/a ethylene  project of ZRCC includes 19 spherical tanks and associated works, among which,  China made low-temperature spherical tank material is used for the first time  for 5 spherical tanks. Total installed tonnage of the 19 spherical tanks is  6444.6t, total linear meter of weld is 10394.3m. Prior to commencement of the project,  detailed quality awareness orientation and technical quality and HSE  clarifications were made for every personnel entering the site by utilizing the  “Spherical Tank Assembly Manual”, “Spherical Tank Welding Manual”, “Spherical  Tank Heat Treatment, Scaffolding Manual” of the Storage Tank Engineering Branch  Company, in order to align the quality management objectives of “high standard,  stringent requirement, leading role and first class”. During the construction  for spherical tanks, the project management team strictly followed the process  discipline, particularly for the 5 cryogenic spherical tanks, the project  management team conducted special monitoring and control particularly in terms  of welder skill, WPS, welding parameter control, post-weld temperature, etc.  Construction quality of the spherical tanks is always maintained at a high  level. Totally 38019 films were taken for the 19 spherical tanks, one-time pass  rate is 99.4%, among which, Class I film is 98.2%, which sets the new record in  China. Installation for the 19 spherical tanks features fast progress and good  quality, which sets an example for similar works in the entire ZRCC, and SNEI is  awarded by Owner as an “Excellent Contractor for 100-Day Campaign”.
