At 09:05 on May 10, 2013, lifting and installation of the C310 column were started on site of BYC’s GAA Project, a construction lump sum contract undertaken by SNEI. C310 column is the tallest column in the GAA plant, which is 7.5m in diameter, 63m in height, and 556t in weight. As C310 is critical in the entire unit, to which high attention is also paid by the Owner. Since May 6, rain has been falling in Nanjing, which brought a lot of difficulties to the construction activities and preparations for lifting on site. In order to make sure the lifting and installation activities will be carried out smoothly according to the schedule, the project management team organized the manpower and machinery properly, and carried out the work even overtime, and overcame a lot of difficulties. Major leaders from the project management team and personnel in charge of construction and safety took the initiative to come to site very early in these days to organize the work under the rain, and even worked overnight in the evening, to get prepared for the lifting and installation work on May 10. On May 9, major leaders, management personnel from the project management team, along with Owner, Supervisor, QA/QC and workers on site, by guaranteeing safety, worked overtime until 24:00 under the rain, to oversee the site scaffold dismantling, and make arrangement for joint inspection of insulation, pipes, ladders and platforms, so as to make sure the lifting and installation work in the next day will proceed smoothly. With joint efforts contributed by the entire construction team, the C310 column was successfully lifted and installed in the early morning of May 10, which has earned congratulations and high recognition from the Owner.
