Recently, the proprietary Project Planning and Control System (PPCS) developed by SNEI was officially put into service in Saudi Aramco Hydrocracking Project. In order to tailor to the Client Technip’s management requirements for pipe welding quality control, pipe section management and pipe construction progress measurement, and with concerted efforts by SNEI and concerned departments and personnel from the project management team, final functional revisions were finished on March 16, 2011 and on March 20, 2011 it successfully passed the system testing performed by the Owner’s personnel from the piping discipline and planning & control discipline, and it was positively recognized by the Owner. On April 2, isometric diagram data and weld data were imported to the PPCS to establish the basic database, which marked the official launch of the PPCS in Saudi Aramco Hydrocracking Project. As of April 20, totally 3,305 isometric diagrams, 6,740 pipe sections, 26,267 welds have been imported into the system. Total weld is 121,055.25 inches. After the system database was established and launched, the PPCS has been providing the Owner with weekly piping workload report, piping progress database and inquiry of piping data within the project, which provided strong data support for progress measurement and pipe construction management for the Owner and the project management team. From start of the pipe welding work, the PPCS will also provide pipe welding quality control for the entire project, and overall control data about welder qualification rate, NDT, material tracing, etc. As the piping work gets into full swing, the PPCS will become the core of piping construction quality and progress management of the project.
