The set-up of the 1st scaffolding pipe on December 21, 2010 marked the kick-off of the main units in Saudi Aramco Hydrocracking Project.
      On December 20th, the primary piperack PR-1003 in 041 distillate processing unit was firstly ready for the setup of scaffold necessary for the construction of steel structures after communication and confirmation by and among the project team, the general contractor and the civil works construction sub-contractors. At 4:00 PM, the first truckload of scaffolding material was transported to the site from the storage yard. With the help of a 25-ton truck crane, 15 tons in total of steel pipe, gang-plank, fasteners and other scaffolding material were placed in the planned area and piled in good order with sound maintenance. 
     On the morning of December 21st, the site work progressed smoothly on schedule. About 10 skillful scaffolders, led by the managerial personnel, began to pack up materials, check tools and prepare safety enclosure for construction on site. The first scaffold was erected in the area of No.11 axes of PR-1003 and went with the vertical shafts of pipe rack from the bottom up. The scaffolding was set up in strict compliance with specifications, operation was carried out in good order, and cooperation between different types of work was smooth on site. As this was the first show of SNEI on site, it attracted great attentions from the personnel of other construction contractors who were working nearby, and they were deeply impressed by their skills, orderly procedures and quality work.
     Till late afternoon, with continuous efforts and elaborate work of the workers, the installation of scaffolding for foundations of two columns on NO.11 axis in PR-1003 was completed. At present, the installation of scaffolding on other axis and the handover of basic measurements are progressing smoothly and all efforts will be made to make it ready for the official commencement of steel structure construction.
