On August 24, the Saudi AMIRAL Project Department held the kick-off meeting in Al-Khobar, marking the achievement of the Project's third milestone. Owner’s representatives, Saudi Aramco’s Hassan, TotalEnergies’ Rafael , and other Owner’s team members, Saudi Arabia Branch of SNEI leaders, engineering team and engineering subcontractor KBR , a total of 47 people, attended the meeting hosted by Saudi Aramco Senior Engineer Ayosiji.

At the meeting, SNEI made kick-off meeting presentation, followed by a detailed status report on the engineering office mobilization, organization chart, project scope, engineering  execution plan, work interface management, standardized engineering, third party report input, FEED pending issues, engineering  considerations and three-week look-ahead schedule. The owner asked questions about document delivery procedures, interface management, standardization procurement, digital delivery and other issues, and SNEI project team clarified them one by one.

Subsequently, the KBR project manager reported on the list of engineering input conditions, site visit, FEED verification, detailed engineering package submission at each stage, HAZOP/SIL third party reports, procurement technical assistance and vendor data review.

Juancarlos, TotalEnergies' Engineering Manager, explained the project specifications, scope of work deviation and clarification, DESIGN NOTE, engineering milestones, interface management procedures, instrument system (PCS), design software related to the project, among other issues.

At the end of the meeting, the owner team highly affirmed the preparation and completion of the kick-off meeting of SNEI, and put forward requirements for subsequent work.

The successful kick-off meeting was the key milestone for the Saudi AMIRAL project. The European team formed by the TotalEnergies’ engineering manager was responsible for technical and engineering management, which presents bigger challenge for the project engineering activities. The owner team conducted rigorous interviews with the engineering manager and the leaders of various disciplines, and repeatedly inspected the facilities of the engineering office. The project department overcame many difficulties and challenges, actively communicated and clarified with a number of local engineering subcontracting companies, comprehensively selected KBR, who completed the engineering preparation work on time, and laid a solid foundation for the successful kick-off meeting.
