Saudi Branch Conducts Health Screening and Promotes Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Health

In Saudi Arabia, it’s hot summer! Saudi Branch recently conducted health screening tests and presented lectures for all employees to promote cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health. The program is designed to offer employees the knowledge and skills to combat high temperature-related cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and heatstroke whilst working in hot weather.

From May 30 through June 2, all employees underwent health screening tests covering blood pressure, blood sugar, blood oxygen level, among others, conducted by doctors at the camp. 40-year and older employees underwent further tests by the local hospital for blood fats including total cholesterol, triglyceride, high- and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. The results were fed back to the employees. Employees with unhealthy results will be monitored and, when necessary, be alerted for medication or medical care, or be assigned to a different job role, with the aim to mitigate the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

On June 1, a healthcare lecture was presented by the doctor at the camp, Mr. Wang Xuxin, in a hybrid event including in-person attendance and video conference via Tencent Meeting. Mr. Wang elaborated on healthcare knowledge with respect to the causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment of the so-called 3 highs (high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood sugars). Step-by-step instructions were provided by Mr. Wang to show how to do CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). Mr. Wang provided recommendations on keeping a heart-healthy lifestyle, including choosing heart-healthy foods, getting regular physical activities. The message? Prevention is better than cure.
